Atelier Lambrinos is a multidisciplinary architectural office based in Amsterdam with experience in complex projects and projects in environmentally sensitive settings. We listen to our clients and offer a very personal experience. We design buildings and interiors which enter a dialogue with their environment in a subtle and intelligent way, merging inside and outside while combining craft, innovation and attention to detail.
Founding architect Andreas Lambrinos was born in the most American of Canadian cities, Toronto and moved as a young child to Athens, Greece. He did his bachelor study in architecture in Sheffield (UK), where he learned to see the qualities of a building to be an integral part of a physical and social context in a durable and intelligent way. During his master at Delft (NL) he saw more emphasis on the concept, the ambitious and sophisticated story behind the design. In his work he aims to combine these two sides.
Andreas Lambrinos has an international experience of over ten years in the Netherlands and UK. He has designed and realised a diverse range of projects ranging from extensive masterplans to public buildings, monument renovations, bridges, private residences and interiors.
‘I often find my inspiration in minimalist art, like that of Sol Lewitt or James Turrell, to then find the combination with thorough research into the history of a location or a building type. I enjoy discovering the logic behind old traditional ways of building, like that of the Greek Cycladic islands or in tropical architecture.’
Andreas also has a passion for photography where he frames buildings and spaces in an almost abstract manner. Below is a an example of his work and link to his instagram account. “Buildings and spaces usually begin with the architect’s conceptual sketch. Sadly that sketch is often lost in the process of becoming a building. Through photography I attempt to return that building to resemble that initial sketch”.
